Nana Adu Mankatta II, president of Greater Accra Regional Keep Fit Clubs Association has called on the youth not to allow themselves to be influenced to foment trouble during Election 2008.
He said they should rather endeavour to unite for the nation’s development.
Nana Mankatta made the call at the end of this year’s Africa Sports Day Endurance Walk and Fun Games held at Aburi in the Eastern Region on Saturday.
Members from about 50 keep fit clubs took part in the 17-kilometre walk from Ayi Mensah in Greater Accra Region to Aburi, under the theme, “Africa Run for Peace and Development”.
It was organized by Unity Ahoodzen Keep Fit Club and co-sponsored by managements of Coca Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited, State Insurance Company of Ghana, Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited and Voltic Ghana Limited.
Nana Mankatta noted that unity played an important role in socio-economic development of every nation.
He asked Ghanaians to take active interest in sports to remain healthy and increase productivity.
Mr K. Adomako-Boakye, Coordinator of the event, expressed appreciation about the attendance this year and was optimistic the enthusiasm would be sustained.
Mr Kwasi Anim-Adjei, a representative of Coca Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited, said sports played a vital role in the development of the body and called on workers to join keep fit clubs to be healthy to increase productivity.
