Welterweight Frederick Lawson of Fit Square Gym confirmed his status as a force to reckon with by an unanimous decision over Moses Dormenyo of Square Deal at a special contest organised by Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) at the Prisons Canteen in Cantonments, Accra last Friday.
Lawson, a former African Featherweight Champion proved too strong for Dormenyo, incidentally his colleague in the national amateur boxing team, Black Bombers to maintain his unbeaten record.
Lawson’s strength was his ability to combine effectively from both hands while Dormenyo did little to justify his place in the national team.
From the onset, the Fit Square-lad dominated till the fourth round and topped on the score cards of all the three judges.
In the light heavyweight division, Fit Square’s Emmanuel Adjei was handed a controversial majority decision win over Ebenezer Tetteh of Sonia Gym.
Jesse Lartey completed a hat-trick for the Kokomlemle-based gym with a split decision victory over Musah Rahman Lawson of Wisdom Gym in their Bantamweight clash.
In the Flyweight and Lightweight Divisions, Sulemana Tetteh and Bright Ayala of Wisdom Gym defeated Duke Micah and Frank Sarpong both of Fit Square by split point decisions.
