Herbert Mensah’s AshGold FC beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-1 in a friendly soccer match played at Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Sunday.
The match was arranged to build up the relationship between the two Ashanti clubs and also used to test their newly signed players.
Kotoko opened the scoring in the 25th minute through newly signed Freddick Quayson.
Both sides at this stage played an uncompromising game which resulted a red card to AshGold’s, Tony Baffoe by Kumasi-based referee, Kwame Nsiah Boafo in the 41st minute for decent.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, AshGold mounted a series of attacks and a clear chance for the equalizer in the 43rd minute was wasted by Mustapha Gariba.
On resumption, AshGold earned a spot kick in the 48th minute and Daniel Asamoah’s kick gave them the equalizer.
Kotoko and AshGold made some substitutions and this benefited AshGold who scored the match winner through Ibrahim Dauda in the 60th minute.
