Israeli coach Eyal Lachman has revealed he regrets his decision to leave Ghana giants Accra Hearts of Oak.The highly-strung manager quit the 2000 Africa champions in May after enduring severe criticism over team selection and poor results. Lachman is now coaching his second team in Israel since leaving the Accra club and reveals that there were other reasons for his Ghana departure. "I came back because I missed Israel and it was hard living far away from my family," Lachman told Israeli newspaper Haaretz. "Looking back it was a mistake. "I should have stayed in Ghana, I should have. It was difficult for me to be there but I should have overcome this. "I had good ties there and there's no doubt that had I stayed another year I could have landed a coaching job in Europe." Lachman joined second division side Maccabi Herzliya since leaving Hearts but quit the post after a bizarre incident. His relationship with the club turned sour when club president Ariel Sheiman left his seat in the stands to take over coaching during a game. "I've never been in such a situation," Lachman said. "I have a family and kids who read about this stuff and it's not pleasant. I was pleased with myself, though, that I remained restrained. “Sometimes a man's strength is displayed by his ability to suffer a blow and remain calm." Lachman has now returned to his former club Bnei Sakhnin, the side he led to an improbable, 2003 victory in the State Cup. So far, it seems like things have picked up for the former Hearts coach.
