Reports are that assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been asked to take charge of the Black Stars for the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifying double header against Guinea next month.
Konadu was the deputy to recently fired head coach Kwesi Appiah; a position he has held since April 2012.
Following the sacking of Appiah via word of mouth, footy-ghana.com understands that the move is to give the Ghana Football Association time to head hunt and appoint a new head coach for the team.
Ghana will travel to Casablanca to face Guinea on October 10, with both teams clashing again in Kumasi on October 15.
In a related development, footy-ghana.com has learnt that the GFA is yet to officially hand Kwesi Appiah his letter of termination, after he was informed by GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi on Friday that he was being relieved of his post.
