The first reason for replacing Kwasi Appiah is always going to be, above all else, presence. It is precisely because the legends of the Black Stars have shown they need a ‘big man’ in the dressing room to control them.
Milovan Rajevac stands as the manager who has both the utter self-assurance and extreme success to handle the inevitable fallout from the players. It is more important than anything; the Serbian is wielding sufficient cult of personality to make the entire dressing room respond to his philosophy.
However, many have diverse opinion of calling for other applicants who may exercise other qualities, but the story in line is about Milovan who has once called off the bluff of the so called ‘big’ players.
Milovan helped Black Stars to AFCON 2010 Final and to the World Cup 2010 Quarter – finals, that is, Ghana’s best since the turn of the millennium. He certainly achieved that with his force of personality. There is just something so exciting about the Serbian. Even aside his whole approach, style of play and the sheer charisma, Milo employs unique man management.
Coach Milovan Rajevac may just breathe life into the Black Stars again and completely change the dynamics. Milovan truly practices modern football.
The situation of the Black Stars means that the job specification itself has changed. It is not about the tactics of the incoming coach but about the strength of the coach to withstand the players. The Black Stars would not need someone as close in tactical quality as possible to Jose Mourinho, but just someone more knowledgeable in modern management.
The current reality is this: More modern tactics: More modern management and Ghana would play better football, while results can not get worse.
That, of course, means a somewhat wider potential pool of replacements. But given how dismal the current situation is, it will be difficult for a football sage not to think of Milo as a prospective candidate whose presence in the Black Stars dressing room would effect a positive change.
