Ghana Football Association (GFA) has denied news reports that the Black Stars will play American side DC United next year.
A section of the media reported on Monday that Ghana’s national team has lined up a friendly with the MLS club on 11 February ahead of the start of the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers.
But the GFA says the Black Stars will only play tough national teams in preparation for the start of the qualifiers in March.
"There is no truth whatsover in the reports that Ghana will play DC United next year," a GFA spokesman told Ghanasoccernet.
"America is too far for our players plus we will have to resort to European clubs which would be easier to covene our players if we are to play club sides.
"We are working to ensure that we will get a fromidable national team to play before the start of the qualifiers."
The Black Stars will play Benin in the opening game of the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers.
Skipper Stephen Appiah led his compatriots to draw 0-0 with their Tunisian counterparts, the Carthage Eagles at the Ohene Djan Stadium the last time the Stars played a friendly.
