Nana Akufo-Addo, NPP’s presidential candidate in the 2008 election, is confident Friday’s presidential runoff in Tain constituency, Brong Ahafo Region, will overturn fortunes in his favour.
Looking calm but exuding confidence, he told party supporters, who converged in his Nima residence to probably keep solace in him, not to look discouraged even though he is down, he is certainly not out.
According to a Peace FM’s correspondent, Nana Akufo-Addo thanked his supporters across the country for voting massively for him and asked them to keep faith in him because he is sure of winning in Tain.
Late Tuesday evening, EC Chairman Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan announced that out of the 229 constituencies whose results the Commission collated, Professor Mills has polled 4,501,466 or 50.13 percent of valid votes cast, while Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party polled 4,478,411 or 49.87 percent.
The NPP is immediately moving its entire troops to invade the Tain constituency to begin vigorous campaign. The party has now adopted a new catchphrase, “fre wu nua”, which is loosely translated, "call your brother." By the new slogan, all supporters with friends and relatives in Tain are being asked to reach out to others and convince them to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo.
Nana Akufo-Addo was disappointed the Nhyieaso constituency result was rejected based on what the NPP presented, which he said was the true reflection of what transpired on Sunday December 28, 2008, which he maintained the party has evidence to prove its claim.
The NPP flag-bearer said the party would contest the results from about six polling stations in the Volta Region, the opposition NDC’s stronghold.
The mood at the residence was that of, disappointment, sorrow and anger.
