Wa All Stars were forced to draw 1-1 with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their Glo Premier League match at the Wa Sports Stadium on Sunday to record three drawn games at home this soccer season. All Stars drew with Accra Hearts of Oak and Bechem Chelsea thus sending worries to their supporters about the survival of the team with their continued drawn games. Some of the supporters could be heard shouting at the Coach, “We want home wins; we don’t want draw games anymore”, to express their dissatisfaction at the poor performance of the team at home. All Stars started the game in a whirlwind style and besieged Kotoko’s goal area with a sustained pressure given hope that they were out for a win.Cheered on by their numerous supporters, the home side put the ball on the turf, with beautiful and accurate inter-positional passes just to please the supporters since no goals came from their antics.Kotoko’s goalkeeper Saani Mohammed who hails from Wa had to work hard with his defence like bees to keep their base clear from conceding any goal. The Porcupine Warriors put off the bluff of the home side and nearly went ahead with the first goal but Kwadwo Opoku shot straight into the waiting hands of All Stars keeper Bright Akoto in the ninth minute.Threatened with the incursion of Kotoko, All Stars took the challenge and outside right Issah Salihu worked his way through Kotoko defence and delivered a powerful shot that was palmed back to play by keeper SaaniInside right Nii Adjei and outside left Francis Coffi took their turns at goal but failed to score in the 24th and 27th minutes respectively.Salihu who played a good game also narrowly missed the posts with header in the 35th minute to end the first half goalless.Back from recess, All Stars brought on Mohammed Bawa for Benjamin Tuffuor and that paid off for them as Salihu was brought down violently by Hana Giwa of Kotoko, resulting in a penalty which was expertly converted by centre forward Daniel Bomfah to register the first goal of the match in the 55th minute. With their pride at stake, Kotoko replaced Giwa with Stephen Manu and his presence was felt when he headed home the equalizer for his side on the 75th minute after he had received a cross from the right flank by Louis Quainoo.Kotoko also brought on Alex Asamoah and Ganiyu in the dying minutes of the game to strengthen their attackers but the goals eluded them.It was rather All Stars Bomfah and Bawa who squandered good goal scoring chances in the dying minutes to the disappointment of the supporters who had thronged the stadium to cheer them to victory.Source: GNA
