The deplorable nature of roads in the country’s capital, Accra is hampering business activities and making life unbearable for residents.
Motorists and drivers have complained about the effects the bad nature of roads is having on their vehicles which break down often and how they are forced to make frequent trips to mechanics.
In Kwabenya, a suburb situated east of the capital, traders and business owners say business has virtually come to a standstill.
A resident driver Ato who lives in the area, spoke to Joy FMs Francis Abban and said his business is suffering and he is unable to work like he did in the past when the roads were in good shape.

Unable to save money from his taxi business like he used to, Ato said he is unable to work like he did previously due to the constant breakdown of his taxi caused by huge potholes in the road.
He said he spends more money in purchasing spare parts for his car than he used to.
The situation, he says, becomes unbearable anytime it rains and drivers risk their cars skidding off the roads if extreme caution is not applied.
Even the affluent in the area complain of the bad nature of the roads and describe the pot holes as ‘man holes’.
A further tour of the western areas of the capital by Joy FMs news editor, Araba Koomson, indicated that the even the peri urban communities such as Lashibi are no different from the others.
The area, which is known to house some high profile personalities in the country, shares a common terrible road network with the less well-to-do residents.
The situation is not different along the Teshie-Manet road where traders complain about the loss of customers due the deplorable state of the road there.
The road, which stretches from Teshie Rasta to the Manet junction on the Spintex road has been under construction for years.
Even though some portions have been fixed, the dusty nature of the road makes trading along the stretch difficult.
Some traders who spoke to Joy News said their products in their shops are always coloured in dust and the situation worsens when it rains.
Constant complaints only received a visit from the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area who, according to the traders, said the road could only be fixed next year.
