Andre Dede Ayew, skipper of the Black Satellites, has commended President John Evans Atta Mills for the goodwill message he sent the team just before the game against Rwanda.
Professor Mills called the squad on Friday, 24 hours before the epic clash, to encourage the players to go for victory and seal their place in the second round of the tournament.
According to the France-based attacking midfielder, the inspiring message from the President lifted the morale of the players who beat the host nation 2-0 on Saturday.
The victory cemented Ghana's place at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup to be held in Egypt in September.
"Ghana is a football nation and it was encouraging that the President took time off his busy schedule to call us. It was inspiring," Ayew said.
Dede Ayew who has seen a tremendous improvement in form this season for his French side said they would do their best to return the compliments by winning the crown.
The 19-year-old son of legendary Abedi Pele Ayew has been an inspiring captain to the team, scoring that vital equalizer against Cameroon in the first match of the tournament.
