Manchester United are set to join Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Sami Khedira according to reports.
The Daily Star claim the record English league champions are prepared to offer the 2014 World Cup winner a huge offer to come to Old Trafford next summer.
Sami Khedira is out of contract with Real Madrid at the end of the season after rejecting a new contract offer during the summer.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal are also strongly-linked with a move for the 27-year old also, as are German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The newspaper goes as far as saying Manchester United will be willing to increase his current £150,000-a-week deal to £200,000-a-week to lure him into joining Louis van Gaal’s side.
Arsenal had the opportunity to sign Khedira in the summer after Real Madrid accepted a bid from the Gunners, but they could not match his wage demands.
Manchester United already have several options in the centre of their midfield to partner Ángel Di María – Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini. One would have to expect one or two of these to be shipped out before signing Khedira.
Sami Khedira was part of the Real Madrid team that won the 2014 UEFA Champions League last season despite missing most of the season through injury, to emphasize his importance. However, there are suggestions the German has fallen out with the club over a new contract offer made during the World Cup whilst he was representing his country in Brazil.
