Teachers studying at the University of Cape Coast have expressed displeasure with a decision by the University authorities to charge them five thousand cedis for a head count being conducting on behalf of the Ghana Education Service. The teachers say it has never been the practice that they pay for any such exercise conducted in the past especially since it is being carried out by the GES itself. They describe the charge as exploitative and would put some 25 million cedis or so in the pockets of some private individuals. They are therefore calling on the GES to explain why they have to be levied. The teachers said what was surprising was that a similar exercise currently underway at the University College of Education at Winneba is at no cost to the teachers just as the practice had been in the past.
