About 120 amateur golfers would parade at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra to vie for this year’s Golden Tulip Hotel Championship trophy on Saturday, February 14.
Mr Kwabena Oteng Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, told GNA Sports in Accra on Monday that the event, which would be the second major competition of the year, has so far attracted a large entry as compared to last year’s.
He said the competition which would be played under the rules of the World’s golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 respectively as the entry requirements.
Mr Oteng-Aboagye said management of the Club has put up the necessary arrangements to ensure keen competition.
Uzo Nwako, Jonathan Ane, Bob Evans, Mike Aggrey, Charles Tabi, Daniel List, Paul Owusu-Baah and Mike Ezan are among the competitors who would be vying for honours.
Seventeen prizes including the ‘Longest Drive on Hole 18’ and the ‘Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17’ would be given out to the eventual winners.
Mr Herbert Friese, Vice President of Golden Tulip West Africa is expected to grace the occasion.
