The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Assembly, has set-up a sanitation task force to address the environmental problems confronting various communities in the district.
Mr Louis Bayouh, District Coordinating Director, explained that the task force would implement measures to address environmental degradation.
He said the situation had worsened because of the peoples’ refusal to abide by the bye-laws on sanitation. He said this after a six-hour clean-up exercise organized by the Assembly at Bibiani on Sunday.
Mr Bayouh said the task force, which membership comprised unit committee members of the assembly and some opinion leaders, was expected to mobilize the indigenes to embark on regular clean-up exercise in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
He said the exercise was in response to President John Evans Atta Mills’ call on Ghanaians to always maintain a clean environment.
The District Coordinating Director said, when the nation had a clean environment it would facilitate the country’s overall agenda of achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
Alhaji Abass Yukabbir, Administrator of the Bibiani Government Hospital appealed to the District Assembly to sustain the exercise to benefit the District.
