Four members of Ghana’s Amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers have secured qualification to participate in the next edition of the Africa Amateur Boxing Championship slated for Madagascar from May 15 to 21, 2007.
The four members secured two gold and two silver medals at the 8th African Boxing Confederation Zone III Amateur Championship held from February 24 to March 3, 2007, in Cote d'Ivoire, which qualified them automatically for the event.
Prince Octopus Dzanie and Manyo Plange won gold medals in the 54kgs and 48kgs, respectively while Frederick Lawson and Bastie Samir also grabbed silver medals in the 57kgs and 69kgs in that order.
Three other Ghanaians, Yekeni Awusone, Obodai Sai and Samuel Kotey won bronze medals in the 91kgs, 75kgs and 60 kgs in the championship but failed to qualify to participate in the championship in Madagascar.
All the seven boxers however stand the chance of making it to the All All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria in July, this year.
