In two separate incidents, a gang of high way robbers, in the early hours of yesterday attacked traders on board two Nissan Urvan buses on the Boanim-Jamasi road linking the main Ashanti Mampong Kumasi road and robbed them of their money and wares.
The traders were from Ejura and Yeji to Kumasi.
Divisional Police Commander of Ashanti Mampong, Augustine Gyenning said that the main Kumasi Mampong road had been diverted through Boanim because of the depression of the portion of the scarp beyond Jamasi.
Taking advantage of the diversion, he said, the robbers at about 2.30 am yesterday, blocked the Boanim Jamasi road with a big tree in a sharp curve for their operation.
The robbers stopped the first bus from Ejura and robbed the passengers of their money and other items and also attacked passengers on board a bus from Yeji.
They left their victims at the scene and fled with the bus to the outskirts of Kofiase where the cargo, mainly food items was stolen and the vehicle abandoned. No arrests have been made.
