The Country Manager of Tullow Oil Plc, one of the oil companies exploiting oil at the Cape Three Point, says one of the major challenges facing its operations in Ghana is the availability of skilled labour for specialised jobs.
Mr Kofi Esson said the company has to hire labourers from the neighbouring Ivory Coast to undertake certain jobs.
Speaking in the Western Regional Capital, Takoradi, he however explained that the company is nurturing local skills to provide the services required by the oil company.
He was also hopeful as the oil industry grows, players in the industry will find more skilled personnel to improve the local content.
“The type of job that we are doing, first of all, you have to nurture the local skills to enable them do the little things the company can accord them.”
