Revenue mobilization for the sports industry could receive a boost following the introduction of a betting programme.
Betting centres have become more and more popular in recent times and it is reasonable that they make a contribution to national development
Minister for Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga tells Joy Business the Ministry is working hard towards the introduction of this programme.
“We are currently working on a betting programme with some partners. Ideally, operators of betting centres should contribute a percentage of what they earn to the Government.
“We are having discussions with the Gaming Commission and the Finance Ministry regarding that development. We hope to see this programme implemented soon.”
He was speaking to Joy Business on the sideline of the launch of a sports lottery and mobile platform by the National Lotteries Authority.
