Dr. Godfred Osei Bonsu Twum, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akuapem South, on Wednesday said the assembly would initiate plans to revive the Nsawam Food Cannary of GIHOC to provide jobs for the youth in the area.
In an interview with GNA after the assembly had confirmed his nomination as MCE, Dr Bonsu Twum said about 400 jobs would be created if the factory was revamped to prevent the youth from migration to the cities to look for non-existing jobs.
He advised farmers, especially fruits growers in Pokrom Nsabaah, Nsakyi and Oboadaka communities to increase production to feed the factory if it was revived.
Dr. Twum said he would ensure that the assembly built new lorry park and market at Adoagyiri to replace the old facilities that would be affected by the construction of the Accra-Kumasi by-pass road at Nsawam.
The MCE urged parents to send their children to school so that they could acquire skills and knowledge needed for national development.
