General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has revealed that his coat was indeed feminine and belonged to his wife.
Mr Aseidu Nketia’s response comes after pictures of him in a funny looking winter coat, at a ceremony in Germany while he was on a state visit with President Mahama, went viral.
Speaking on Kumasi based radio station, Hello FM, Mr Asiedu Nketia said they (he and his wife) have a winter coat of the same colour and so in the process of packing for his Germany trip, he mistakenly took hers, thinking it was his.
Irrespective of the fashion faux pas, Asiedu Nketia said he did not go to Germany for a 'fashion show' thus was not bothered about the public’s reaction.
He says he sees nothing wrong with wearing a woman’s fur coat to keep warm in Germany.
“I’m glad they are not accusing me of stealing state funds for shopping in Germany, but rather accusing me of wearing my wife’s fur coat in Germany to keep me warm,” he said.
According to him, “no German told me the fur coat was for women so those Ghanaians who are experts at telling male winter coats from feminine ones should go on talking.”
