Accra, 5th June 2009. Ghana’s discerning radio JOY 99.7FM will this week air a special programme looking into the African economy and the global recession from South Africa as part of its coverage of the 19th World Economic Forum on Africa from 10th – 12th June 2009 in Cape Town. This forms part of the station’s strategy to avail Ghanaian listeners a professional perspective of all important happenings affecting Ghana and Africa.
The 19th World Economic Forum on Africa will provide an important platform for world leaders to address the global and regional implications of the credit crisis and develop a new roadmap for Africa’s future. Discussion will focus on the impact of the crisis on Africa’s traditional drivers of growth including foreign capital flows, demand for oil and commodities, and infrastructure development. A key focus will be on Africa’s investment climate and identifying practical solutions to foster better business practices and greater investment across the continent.
“This all important gathering of some of the best minds from Africa and the world to help Africa define its business and economic future fits into JOY FM’s belief in communal championing of Africa’s issues” says Kofi Owusu the Programmes Director of Joy FM
The team to South Africa is led by Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the host of the Super Morning Show who will present a special “Ghana Today” segment on the show daily from 7:30am all week live from South Africa. The programme will feature interviews, discussions, mini documentaries and reports on various activities and personalities who will be at the forum.
“The Super Morning Show focuses on the key subjects that feature in the lives of our discerning listeners, so the Global economy’s effect on African commerce and the steps to overhaul the status quo and find long term solution definitely fits what we serve our listeners” Says Kojo.
The forum will be co-chaired by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Ngozi Okonji Iweala, Vice President for Africa at the World Bank, amongst others.
