The paramount chief of the Wasipey Traditional Council, Wasipey-Wura Anyame Kabasagya II has appealed to the gods of the land to protect and assist President John Mahama to deliver on his better Ghana agenda.
He said president Mahama needs encouragement and support at this challenging time of Ghana’s economic recovery.
The Wasipey-Wura made the call at a sod cutting ceremony in Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Northern Region for work to commence on an administration complex for the District Assembly.
The project is being executed by Bediako and Co. Limited and expected to be completed in 10 months.
The North Gonja District is one of the new district in Northern Region carved out of the West Gonja District.
The Wasipey-Wura said they have seen tremendous infrastructural development in the District and appealed to the president to stay focused and continue with the development projects initiated in the area and other parts of the country for transformation.
According to him, the gods of the lands are behind president Mahama, who is a son of the land. He said he was the President would achieve the better Ghana agenda he promised Ghanaians.
District chief executive Sorku Yahuza in his address called on the people of the area to continue to support the president and his government.
He said government has awarded many of the major roads linking the District to other parts of the Northern Region for construction.
"The interventions the president is bringing to the area will see the district as one of the model districts in the country, the road networks is one of the major challenge in the district and the government has awarded many of these roads to contracts. Some of these roads are Busunu- Daboya, Daboya- Mankarigu, among others."
Sorku Yahuza said that government also has advanced plans to construct a bridge on the Daboya river that has claimed lives of some residents.
