The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has urged philanthropists involved in distributing packages to the underprivileged amid the Covid-19 lockdown, to ensure social distancing protocols are observed.
He said, their work would come to nought if they fail to ensure people are not crowded during their distribution activities.
“We encourage all who are involved in distributing relief packs to the vulnerable to ensure social distancing is observed. Else your efforts will be counter productive,” the MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi in the Eastern region wrote.

Earlier Monday, photos and videos of persons crowded in an area emerged on social media.
According to reports, the persons who were blatantly ignoring social distancing, were receiving food items at Asokwa in the Ashanti region.
There was outcry on social media over the issue, with many pointing to the irony in the situation, which was aimed at alleviating the suffering of underprivileged amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s case count stands at 566 with eight deaths and four recoveries.
Greater Accra and parts of the Ashanti and Central regions remain under lockdown.
