The Ghanaian Canadian Association of Waterloo Region in Canada has donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the 37 Military Hospital and the Ghana Armed Forces COVID 19 Treatment Center in Accra.
Donating the items on behalf of the group, Patience Adzo Emeiabo said the donation was done to complement what government was doing to fight the COVID 19 pandemic.
“Ghanaians in the Waterloo Region of Ontario Canada believe these items will help reduce the stress on government a little in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic,” she said.
Receiving the items, commander of the 37 military hospital Brigadier General Nii Adjah Obodai commended the association for the gesture urged other Ghanaians in the diaspora to same.
“We are hopeful that these items will go a long way to help protect our frontline staff in the fight against COVID 19,” he said.
“We encourage other Ghanaians in the diaspora to emulate what our brothers and sisters in Canada have done,” he said.
President of the association, Nana Yaw Ameh in an interview said, the gesture represents donations from Ghanaians in the Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge areas of Ontario in Canada.
“I’m proud of the Ghanaians in the region who donated within this short period. The Ghanaian Canadian Association of Waterloo Region will continue in our small way to contribute to the development of Ghana,” he stated.
Some of the items donated included PPEs, hand sanitizers and soaps to ensure the safety of medical staff and the maintenance of proper hygiene.
The Ghanaian Canadian Association of Waterloo Region is made up of Ghanaians in the Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge areas in the Ontario province of Canada.
