American producer and songwriter, Jack Knight, is planning to collaborate with the arts industry to build a "state of the art" facility in Ghana to house his colleagues when they visit the country.
This facility will not only be a place to house artistes across the world but will also have ultra-modern studios that would help them make music during their visits, he told Mark Okraku Mantey during a chat.
Jack Knight said that he is hoping that it would help make collaborations between Ghanaians and foreign acts so much easier but also help local artistes leverage on it to make a name for themselves outside.
“The focus is for us to figure out what we need to do. What would it take to build the state of the art facility, to make Ghana the centre and home of African music?”
“To make it the mecca of African music, to have everybody from Sudan to Tanzania to Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, coming there for music and for sound. What could we do to do that?”
The songwriter revealed that Lynx Entertainment signee KiDi was going to have one of the biggest deals signed in the US and it was time to build on that for the country.
Jack Knight urged Mark Okraku Mantey to find out the financial implications and what it would take to get the project started.
Mark Okraku Mantey said that he was impressed a non-Ghanaian had such grand plains for the country’s music industry.
He stated that the industry players had kicked against the idea when he suggested an ultra-modern studio be built for artistes across the country.
