The Jirapa Community Health Nursing Training College (CHNTC) has embarked on a mass collection of samples of all final year students and staff of the college for testing for Covid-19.
The principal of the College, Haruna Tira explained this is as a result of five students returning to the school with abnormal temperatures.
The five suspected students are under self-isolation.
This came to light when the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih visited the college as part of his tour of tertiary and second cycle institutions to assess the level of compliance to the safety health protocols outlined by government.
Briefing the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih on measures adopted by the Jirapa Community Health Nursing Training College to contain the spread of coronavirus, Principal of the college Haruna Tiira stated that each of the five students have been given a separate room.
The tour by the minister follows a directive by President Akufo-Addo for all schools to be reopened for final year students at the basic, secondary and tertiary level to study and write their exit exams.
The Regional Minister commended students and staff of the Jirapa Community Health and Nursing Training College for adhering to the safety protocols.
He urged them not to be distracted by the circumstances that they have found themselves but stay optimistic.
Dr. Bin Salih earlier visited the Nadowli Queen of Peace Senior High, Jirapa Senior High, and Brifo Senior High Schools where he interacted with final year students and staff.
