A Member of the National Covid-19 Trust Fund, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie has disclosed that as of June 30, the Fund had accrued ¢53, 911, 000.
Donating Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to six treatment centres in the Northern part of Ghana, Madam Afenyi-Dsadzi said more than half of the money has been disbursed for its purpose of establishment.
She also indicated that the items forms part of a consignment worth ¢ 10 million to be distributed to institutions and individuals who are directly engaged in the fight against the pandemic in the country.
Giving details on the utilisation of the Fund, Madam Afenyi-Dadzie said some of the vehicles received have been donated to selected health and laboratory facilities which included the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
She added that the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) received an amount of ¢2.5 million to undertake the nationwide sensitization campaign on Covid-19 in collaboration with the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).
“A donation of a ventilator worth over GH¢200,000.00 was recently made to the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital as well as a commitment of GH¢800, 000.00 to support the rehabilitation and equipping of isolation centre in that facility,” she said.

On his part, the Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed said the Northern Region has successfully contained the spread of the virus because of the hard work of the medical teams and all stakeholders tasked to fight the pandemic.
He said also appealed to the Board of Trustees of the fund to continue to support the Tamale Health Laboratory since it is the only testing facility in the five regions.
