Boa Amponsem SHS has won the first contest in the one-eighth stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) that took place on Monday morning at the Business School in the University of Ghana.
The contest featured Boa Amponsen SHS, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls and OLAM SHS.
Benedict Nana Owusu and Franklin Appoh who represented Boa Amponsem SHS led the school to victory by a close margin.
The quarter-final stage slot was fiercely contented by Boa Amponsem SHS and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls.
Vera Agyeiwaa and Zeharawu Basiru were the representatives of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls whiles OLAM SHS was represented by Afriyie Benson Owusu and Toufic Suraj.
In the first round, Boa Amponsem SHS led the score board with 14 points with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls and OLAM SHS following with 7 and 4 points respectively.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls came back strong in the second round with 10 points although Boa Amponsen SHS led the contest with 12 points and OLAM SHS with 4 points.
In the third round, OLAM SHS and Boa Amponsem SHS secured 6 points with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls securing 4 points.
Boa Amponsem SHS led the score table with 25 points with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls following closely with 21 points. And OLAM SHS secured 14 points at the end of the fourth round.

At the end of the contest, Boa Amponsem SHS won by a close margin with 28 points on the score table. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls secured 27 points while OLAM SHS scored 17 points on the score table.
Representatives of schools present observed Covid-19 safety protocols.
Supporters of various schools were not permitted at the venue due to Covid-19 pandemic.
However, they partook through the NSMQ platforms on Facebook and YouTube virtually.
