Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Samuel Anim Addo, has urged young people to remain steadfast in the face of adversity, saying perseverance anchored in faith has been the defining principle of his personal and professional journey.

The Executive Chairman of Young Apostles Football and Club Chairman of Okwahu United Football Club said one of the greatest lessons life has taught him is never to surrender to setbacks, no matter how difficult circumstances may become.

Speaking on Joy FM's Personality Profile with Lexis Bill on Thursday, August 6, Mr Anim Addo also reflected on the importance of exercising caution in relationships, admitting that his trusting nature had, at times, left him vulnerable.

"Never give up, and the other one is that you can trust, but sometimes limit it," he said.

Asked whether he believed he trusted people too much, he replied in the affirmative, explaining that his openness often led him to assume others shared the same values.

"I think so because I'm clean and I'm always ready to believe that everybody's the same as I am, but everybody's not like that," he stated.

Mr Anim Addo, who has built a reputation as a football administrator, sports entrepreneur, businessman and boxing promoter, said his unwavering faith in God has remained his greatest source of strength through numerous personal and professional challenges.

According to him, every setback he has encountered has reinforced his conviction that persistence ultimately leads to success.

"The greatest one is that belief that there's only one creator, the Most High God, who will give you everything," he said.

Responding to a question about what inspired his determination never to give up, Mr Anim Addo pointed to his upbringing, the advice he received from his father, and the difficult experiences he endured while growing up.

"I think my faith in God kept me going. If I look at the ups and downs, if I look at the challenges, if I look at even the number of accidents I've had in my life and setbacks I've had, and what my father told me in my early days and when I grew up in Adabraka, and some challenges I went through, it really comes back to me to let me know that yes, I should never give up. No matter what it is, I should keep going, and I'll be able to achieve the ultimate," he said.

His reflections offered a rare glimpse into the experiences that have shaped one of Ghana's prominent sports administrators, whose career spans football administration, sports promotion and business leadership.

Mr Anim Addo's comments highlight the growing call for resilience, discipline and emotional intelligence among young professionals, particularly at a time when many face economic uncertainty and increasing social pressures.

While encouraging people to maintain confidence in others, he advised that trust should be balanced with wisdom and discernment, noting that life has taught him not everyone shares the same intentions or values.

He maintained that faith, perseverance and measured trust remain essential qualities for anyone seeking to overcome obstacles and achieve lasting success.
