Musician Kontihene is saying goodbye to music and the music industry after revealing he does not see himself as an artiste any more.
According to him, the decision has been one he had meant to take early on in his career but ended up releasing an album and new songs, regardless.
“For the last two years, I haven’t released any song. I featured Yaa Pono…I doubt I will do music anymore. I am believing in God to change the story and the sequence [SIC],” he said in an interview with Abeiku Santana.
Kontinhene, however, stated emphatically that he was not leaving the industry because of new artistes or the competition they bring.
The 'Aketesia' hitmaker said he has never been one to run away from competition adding that many songs released currently are not challenging in the least.
“The kind of songs Ghanaians want isn’t hard to do. Now Ghanaians don’t want quality songs. They want senseless songs. I am not destroying the business.”
Kontihene stated that he does not want to continue doing the same thing he has done over the years.
“I believe God is changing the story I am writing so I cannot do the same thing till I die.”
