President Akufo-Addo has praised the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwesi Amoako-Atta as being the most outstanding Minister of Roads and Highways in the history of the country.
Addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of Akwatia as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, the President indicated that the performance of the Minister who doubles as Member of Parliament for Atewa West is exceptional.
"In the roads sector, when you consider the work that Mr Amoako-Atta has done over the past 2 years, we will not find any minister who has worked as effectively as he has in the history of Ghana... Through his efforts, roadworks in all 16 regions are going on in earnest," the President said.
Akufo-Addo said most of the district capitals in Ghana have benefited from asphalt road or other road construction project through the dynamic leadership of Mr Amoako Atta at the Roads and Highways ministry.
"More importantly, his work is not in a 'Green Book', they are actual verifiable projects that are evident for all to see."
This was said in reference to the Green Book introduced by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the run-up to the 2016 elections, which purportedly catalogued a summary of President Mahama’s achievements as president.
Earlier this year, the government announced that the year 2020 will be 'The Year of Roads' and has, therefore, invested heavily in the construction of new roads, the upgrade of old and deplorable roads among others.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the Eastern Region alone accounts for 1,615.11km of road construction projects in the last 4 years.
