On the first day of his official visit to Nigeria, President Mills has successfully brokered a deal by which Nigeria will supply Ghana with 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day on flexible credit terms.
Ghana previously had a 30-day credit arrangement with the Nigerian government.
Government is hoping this new flexible arrangement will help ease the demand for oil, until next year when Ghana starts producing crude-oil in commercial quantities.
President Mills today met with Nigerian President Umaru Yar’dua in a close door meeting during which the deal was brokered.
Presidential spokesperson Mahama Ayariga told Joy News discussions between the two leaders were wide-ranging.
He said President Mills' visit to Nigeria would boost the bond of friendship between the two countries.
