Ghana international Frank Acheampong marked his 27th birthday with a brace in Tianjin Teda’s 2-0 victory over Shenzen Kaisa in the Chinese Super League play-off.
There couldn’t have been a better birthday party for players and fans of Tianjin Teda as their captain stepped up to the occasion firing a brace to hand them their first victory of the season. The win comes at a crucial time as the play-off determines which clubs are relegated from the Super League this season.
Teda goes into the second leg of the play-offs against Kaisa with a 2-0 advantage but Frank Acheampong believes the battle is far from over.
“I’m very happy to score, what makes it more special is the fact that the win and goals have come on my birthday but more important is the teams survival in the Super League, this win is good but the ultimate is to remain in the league. We need to stay focused and work even harder to achieve this.”
The second leg is scheduled for Wednesday 21st October at the 60,000 capacity Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre.
