Ghana National Petroleum Drivers Tanker Union has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to President Akufo-Addo to terminate the appointment of the Chief Executive of National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli.
The drivers are accusing Mr Tampuli of shirking his responsibility in helping resolve several challenges plaguing the Union.
According to George Nyaunu, the Union's Chairman, President Akufo-Addo in 2017 set up a committee to bring finality to numerous issues affecting their work including the condition of service.
However, after three years, the situation remains the same as their condition is nothing to write home about due to non-compliance of the an MoU signed by all stakeholders.

Speaking to the media in Tema, George Nyaunu said the Union is demanding approval of 86 gas filling stations that have secured permits.
The tanker drivers are also alleging police harassment at checkpoints sanctioned by Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) Coordinator,
Samuel Asare Bediako.
Also, they are raising red flags over non-compliance of 2017 transit losses and refusal of the depot operators to abide by the 20°c loading temperature.
The tanker drivers say there were right there in the fight against the global pandemic and wouldn't want to be left out in the disbursement of Covid-19 essentials as they are also front line workers.
They are hopeful there will be a permanent solution these actions which have become an annual ritual.
