The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to establish what it calls 'Soyeya' Development Fund to support entrepreneurship for poverty alleviation in Zongo communities.
The Fund is to offer credit facilities to start-up businesses in the Zongo communities.
Addressing a section of Asuadee Zongo community residents, the Party’s Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the Fund, together with free entrepreneurship training for the youth, will be a game changer in the Zongos.
On his part, the Assemblyman for the area, Frank Bashiru said they expected the Zongo Development Ministry to help deal with certain challenges in their community but it has failed to answer their call.
According to him, a health facility and capital for trade are the priorities of the people in the Asuadee Zongo community.
This, Mr Ofosu Ampofo, explained the Soyeya Development Fund, among others, are tailored for the purpose.
He stated that although the NDC has no special ministry for Zongo Development, they are committed to dealing with challenges in the Zongo.
Meanwhile, the NDC presidential running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, believed the NDC has better policies to develop the country.
