Running mate to the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman has said a centralised station for motorcyclists is a possible solution to addressing concerns of their safety.
The Centralised station she says will be a designated place where cyclists will pick up and load customers.
In a meeting with professional groups at Bole in the Savannah Region, she stressed the need for safety and adherence to the rules if the Okada regulations are to be sustainable.
“You can work in peace and be safe, we are not going to see people hit by vehicles or being stopped by the Police because of any illegal activity or act in a manner of fear," she said.
She reiterated the NDC's promise that its next government would legalize the commercial operation of motorbikes when voted into power in 2021.
According to the NDC party, the Okada business has become a means of sustenance for young people who are unemployed.
Therefore, anyone interested in pursuing an okada business will be trained and also educated to obey all needed traffic regulations.
