Government has asked security agencies to clamp down on persons who fail to observe the Covid-19 safety protocols.
This follows a recent surge in the country's Covid-19 active cases.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah at a press brief on Monday, reiterated the President's concern regarding the non-adherence to the safety protocols.
"The number of new cases being recorded is literally doubled. The President in his last address stated that the recent hike is grossly as a result of non-compliance with the preventive protocol of wearing the masks," he said.
During President Akufo-Addo's 19th address on measures taken to control Covid-19 in the country, he expressed worry over the recent surge in the country's active cases; stating a jump from 398 positive cases from 3 weeks ago to 1139 as of November 6.
He blamed this new hike on the failure of citizens to comply with safety protocols and therefore urged strict adherence henceforth, so as to completely defeat the virus.
In view of this, the Information Minister at the press briefing on Monday asked security agencies to enforce strict adherence of the safety protocols among the citizenry.
He further urged the management of various institutions, especially those in enclosed areas to also ensure compliance with the safety protocols, especially the wearing of the masks is enforced.
