Officials of the Asafo bus terminal in the Kumasi Metropolis have expressed their fear of losing clients to competitors if Covid-19 safety protocols are to be strictly enforced.
A trustee at the VIP transport service, Francis Asamoah in an interview with JoyNews' Nana Yaw Gyimah, said this is because of their client's disregard for the danger posed by Covid-19.
"When we try to get them to always wear their masks and adhere to the protocols, they react and make nasty remarks," he said.
"Now the transport business is very competitive, if we decide to refuse people without the masks, we will be out of business, all we have to do is to appeal to them," he added.
Nana Yaw Gyimah also spoke to a seamstress, Maame Adjoa who has relocated to the bus terminal to sell hand-sewn face masks to passengers.
Despite the recent spike in active positive cases, she revealed that patronage of her masks has reduced, as most passengers believe that Covid-19 is no longer a threat.
She urged patrons of commercial vehicles to observe the Covid-19 protocols to reduce the spread of the virus
