The Anglican Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, Rt Reverend Felix Odei Annancy says rural areas in the country must not be left out in the distribution of the national cake.
Speaking on the sidelines of a church service to usher the St.Peter's Anglican church congregation into the New year, Bishop Annancy told Joy News that some parts of the country have not been treated fairly by past and present governments.
He noted: "There are so many villages without clean water and good roads. Our politicians should make sure they are able to develop the country properly. They should make sure the national cake is shared equally so those areas feel they are part of Ghana."
Rt Reverend Felix Odei Annancy was emphatic that the teachings and life of Christ should serve as an example to all to ensure the peace and stability of the country.
"The politicians should ensure there is peace in this country. Majority of us are Christians, the politicians are also Christians. They should make sure the teachings of Christ dwell in them so they can ensure that there is peace in this country," he said.
God will hold them accountable if there is any disturbance, violence that will destroy properties and lives, he said.
"They should know that they have been put in leadership positions to cater for God's people," he added.
He believes that if Christ is placed at the centre of the nation, corruption will be a thing of the past.
Rt Reverend Felix Odei Annancy wished all Ghanaians a prosperous new year and prayed for God's blessings for the country.
