The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and the Ghana Judicial Service held a joint press conference today, March 3, 2021 at the premises of the Supreme Court.
This follows a warning statement issued by the Service asking the media to desist from reporting hateful, spiteful and offensive statements against the seven Justices of the Supreme Court hearing the ongoing 2020 election petition.
The GJA, in a response through their President Mr. Roland Affail Monney, said the “Judiciary is not immune from criticism.”
He added that the Judicial Service statement is “scandalous which is a threat to media freedom in Ghana.”
But on Wednesday morning both parties converged at the Supreme Court to address Ghanaians.
Present at the press conference were representatives from Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), the GJA president, Roland Affail Monney; President of the Ghana Bar Association, Anthony Forson among others.
