Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that the Presidential Covid-19 Taskforce is set to convey an emergency meeting following the increasing number of Covid-19 cases at the Kotoka International Airport.
According to him, after the meeting, a new travel advisory is expected to be implemented to prevent further spikes and importations into the country.
His comment follows a letter from the Frontier Healthcare Service, the company conducting the test at KIA warning the Ghana Airport Company and government about the importation of cases in the country.
But speaking to Adom News during a familiarization visit to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah said the outcome of the task force meeting will inform any action by the President.
“The Presidential Covid-19 Taskforce will between today and tomorrow meet. And they will focus more on countries recording higher rates of the disease. After their deliberations, the President will be advised on how best to manage the influx of the virus.”
On the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah said the government is working around the clock to get adequate vaccines to vaccinate the public.
He however added that countries that were expected to supply vaccines are also badly hit by the pandemic.
Mr Oppong-Nkrumah also promised GNA and other agencies of government’s support to deliver on its mandate.
