Payment of taxes and filing of annual returns has now gone online, beginning today.
This means that these activities can be done via the Ghana.gov platform.
It is coming after years of efforts to reduce the human element in tax collections, a move expected to help improve revenue mobilization.
The Ghana Revenue Authority is also moving the payment of taxes from its offices to 22 selected banks from today.
It is therefore reminding the public that by this move, it will no longer accept cheques for tax payment at its offices.
Commissioner-General, Reverend Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah told Joy Business this will make it easier for businesses and individuals to pay their taxes regularly.
“In fact for all the remaining tax types, you should be able to file onset through the Ghana.gov platform. In addition, if you are able to pay for all the tax types, also it will ensure that for all the domestic taxes, you don’t need to go to the two banks or you can now also do it through any of the banks on the Ghana.gov platform”, he further explained.
“For the first time in the history, we’ll ensure taxes are paid not by walking to our offices. In fact, eventually by next year, we will not have tellers in our offices at all; we moving towards cashless”, he added.
