The family of the student journalist who was found dead in a hotel room during the week are calling on the police to speed up investigations into the gruesome killing.

Speaking to JoyNews on Tuesday, the deceased's father said they were invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to the mortuary to see the body of their daughter. Upon arrival, the mortuary demanded an amount of ¢150.00, a situation they find disturbing.

“We the family, at least we have to see the body of Priscilla Tsegah for identification first, but when we go to the mortuary, the mortuary man said we should wait, we should pay an amount of ¢150 before he will allow us to see the body,” he said.

He is, therefore, calling on the police “to sit up because I have lost my daughter and then just for identification they are just [telling me to] go and come tomorrow 'bla bla bla', in fact, it is worrying me a lot.”

23-year-old Priscilla Tsegah who was declared missing for about two weeks was found dead in a hotel in Accra where she had checked in with her friend.

A CCTV footage obtained by the family showed the deceased’s friend identified only as Natashia, leaving the hotel wearing Priscilla's clothes and her backpack.

Priscilla was found lying motionless with foam in her mouth and a knife stuck in her in her lower abdomen.

According to the hotel staff, the prime suspect, Natashia was the one who paid for their stay at the hotel, using her mobile money account, but the number has since been unreachable by the police who are investigating the case.

The room where the two women were lodging, is currently locked for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the police had mounted a search for Natashia and appealed to the public to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
