A group calling itself Friends of George Kunku Blankson have appealed to President John Mahama to consider appointing the Member of Parliament to serve in his administration.

The group says it believes that Mr Blankson's remarkable contributions and tremendous achievements as MP for the Ekumfi Constituency puts him in a good place for a higher position.

In a statement copied to Myjoyonline.com, the group stated that the hard work and dedication Mr Blankson demonstrated while representing the people of Ekumfi in Parliament is one that is needed to contribute to the NDC’s development agenda.

The statement mentioned that the numerous transformations the constituency has experienced during the legislators tenure as MP is something the entire country needs to experience.

The group recounts that his contributions in collaboration with the then MP, Comfort Owusu, the area was provided with electricity and connected to the national grid.

The Eyisam to Nanabem and Essuehyia to adansi Kwaanan roads were also constructed and tarred during his tenure in office.

Through his lobbying skills, approval was given by Parliament for the construction of a steel bridge connecting Suprudo and Amissano after which the adjoining roads were to be constructed and tarred, the group said.

Education saw a facelift in the constituency during his term. He contributed to the construction of several basic schools infrastructure, including the Ekumpoano Catholic Junior High School and the construction of a storey building for the Ekumfi T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.

Other basic school buildings were also awarded on contracts during his regime.

Mr Blankson also worked towards the provision of potable water in the constituency. A project which was later named the Essarkyir Water Project.

The group said Assembly Members can attest to the fact they received countless help from the MP to support their initiated projects and those of their communities.

They are therefore calling on him to stage a comeback for the seat in the 2016 Parliamentary Elections.
