The Governing Council of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) has appointed Engineer David Kwatia Nyante as the Executive Director of the Institution, effective July 1, 2021.
He takes over from Engineer Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, who has successfully completed his term of service. David Kwatia Nyante has about 3 decades of experience in engineering and management.
Speaking to the media on his vision for the institution, the Executive Director of GhIE said he is thankful for the opportunity to serve the GhIE.
He indicated that as the head of the Secretariat, he will help build and develop a world class professional body with Integrity, Accountability and Excellence in the practice of Engineering in Ghana.
Engineer Nyante is a Fellow of GhIE and holds B.Sc. Civil Engineering (University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Ghana; M.Sc. Construction Management from University of Glamorgan, UK; and Executive Masters in Management from Ashridge (Hult) Business School, UK. He is a Project Management Professional. He was a Council member of GhIE, a member of the membership committee and the Chairman of Research & Awards Committee of GhIE in 2017, 2019/2020.
Until his appointment, the Executive Director run an Engineering consulting firm, BuiltPath Ltd, which offers services such as Design Management, Construction Project Management and Facilities Management Advisory & Inspection.
Engineer Nyante previously worked at Tullow Gh. Ltd as Area Manager, Takoradi from February, 2019 to February, 2020; Project Manager in charge of Infrastructure from March, 2015 to February, 2019; Facilities & Administration Manager from July, 2009 to March, 2015. From January 2008 to June 2009, he worked at Barclays Bank Gh. Ltd as a Project Manager.
He also worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana from August, 2004 to December, 2007 as the Project Manager and later became the Quality System & Regulatory Affairs Manager from October, 2005 to December, 2007. The Executive Director of GhIE worked at ABP Consult Ltd from January 1994 to July 2004 rising to become a Principal Engineer.
Engineer Nyante brings on board a great wealth of administrative and engineering experience to continue the good work his predecessor handed over to him.
