Leaders of the New Patriotic Party who supervised the massively attended but poorly organised "won gbo" demonstration have questions to answer, Police have said.

Greater Accra  Police Commander DCOP Tetteh Yehono told Myjoyonline.com they will be meeting with the leaders of the demonstration to answer why the initially agreed route was aborted.

Thousands of NPP fanatics protesting the erratic power supply, Wednesday ignored police instruction to use the TUC end of the road and rather took the demonstration to the Central Business District.

Market women abandoned their wares at least for the time being and joined the fray, singing and chanting "Mahama must go."

It was exactly the strategy of the NPP to get as many people as possible involved in the demonstration. They succeeded in doing that and yet when the numbers came the leaders led from the back and allowed overzealous demonstrators to determine the route.

The crowd, clad in black and red was set in motion shortly after the party's flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo addressed them at the Obra Spot at Circle in Accra.

At the Pharisco junction in Adabraka there was a brief standoff. The police wanted the demonstrators to take a detour and use the road leading to the Trades Union Congress, but the demonstrators had other ideas.

With speed, the demonstrators broke free towards the road leading to COCOBOD and the Central Business District end of the road..

It was as though the traders were waiting for them. They danced, sang and taunted president John Mahama.

If the dancing and singing were fascinating, the placards brandished by the demonstrators were a little less complimentary to the President.

"Dumsor president", "Mahama king of failures" Even school children chanted the slogan "John Mahama dumsor".

The demonstration had broken into different groups; each doing its own thing. The party gurus were not left out of the demonstration. Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah, Alan Kyeremanten, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Kwamena Bartels, Adwoa Safo, Dr Afriyie Akoto, Dr Addo Kufuor all meandered their way through the crowd exchanging pleasantries to many who cared enough to say hello.

Atta Akyea MP for Abuakwa South was happy with the turn-out but unhappy with the poor organisation of the demonstration.

He would rather the demonstrators had moved like a train; in one long queue, instead of dividing the group into bits and pieces with each on a different route.

Kweku Kwarteng, MP for Obuasi was also impressed with the massive turnout. He told Myjoyonline.com, it was always going to be difficult getting crowd on the streets. They would rather be thinking of their daily bread and not a march on the streets.

After a long walk, the party settled on Hearts Park as the point of convergence. Many had gone to the Independence Square only to return to the Hearts park.

It took more than an hour for Nana Akufo-Addo to come to the Hearts park. And he came with a humongous crowd following him.

Wearing a black fugu and an infectious smile, Nana Addo told the crowd the NDC government has failed to deliver its promise.

He said he shares in the frustration of many Ghanaians, some of whom have lost their businesses, jobs due to the erratic power cuts and charged Government to fix the many problems facing the country.
