Hollywood actress, Tanya Sam has named highlife singer, KiDi as her favourite Ghanaian musician.

The American Ghanaian-born actress disclosed that she is in love with the ‘shut up and bend over' line in KiDi’s ‘Touch it' hit.

“I like his song, but I also grew up listening to the oldies like Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi. All these people that I remember that I still can pop up and listen to,”  she told Joy News’ Ibrahim Ben Baako.

The 'Real Housewives of Atlanta’ actress is currently in Ghana shooting a docuseries dubbed the 'Making of a Mogul'.

The docuseries aims at exposing Ghanaian entrepreneurs and startup businesses to a larger global market.

Touching on the Ghanaian music industry's current state compared to what she formerly experienced during her regular visits to Ghana, Tanya acknowledged a massive improvement.

She said, “The nice thing now is that music is so much more universal. When I used to come here, you have to come back and carry a CD or a tape, but now it’s on iTunes, and our artistes are everywhere. You can hear this music in Atlanta.”

She further stated that even though Ghanaian musicians must step up their game to penetrate the international market, the onus lies on Ghanaians in the diaspora to make that a reality by sharing the songs with loved ones.

“But I think it’s up to us now, to take it out to the mainstream. It shouldn’t only be up to the musician trying to push things. We have to share it, we have to share our culture because people are actually excited to hear it, and they just need to be exposed to it,” she said.
