The Chief Executive Officer of communications company, STRATCOMM Africa , Ms Esther Cobbah, has challenged fashion designers and planners of festive occasions to explore and integrate traditional Ghanaian resources into their products and services.
She said local resources as artifacts, raffia, smock fabric and a host of others are perfect replacements for many costly imported materials and accessories that should help provide fashionable yet affordable products for festive occasions.
Ms Cobbah, Guest of Honour at the opening of the seventh edition of Joy FM’s annual Bridal Fair which opened Thursday at the Accra International Conference Centre, said she has been accustomed to the use of raffia in place of ribbons and ‘it works wonderfully well’, explaining that all it takes is the imagination.
“Please look at what we have in Ghana, the smock fabric can do wonderful things, look at all the things we have in our country and please integrate them into these wonderful occasions,” she said.
Ms Cobbah said whether there is a global credit crunch or not, there still will be marriages to celebrate and asked bridal service providers to be responsive to the specialized needs of clients. She was happy for the innovations and imaginations that go into the planning of the annual Joy FM Bridal Fair, explaining that the fair brings so much convenience to planning a marriage.
