One person has been shot dead, while two others have sustained various degrees of injury in a chieftaincy clash at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
The shooting incident happened on Tuesday morning after some families were attacked by unknown persons at the Lalue Shrine.
As a result, Nene Aryeh Okusekrom died and while Tawiah Nyumu and Tettey Kwadzo were injured.
Confirming the incident, the Prampram Divisional Police said investigations into the matter have commenced.
In a statement, the police said two persons have so far been arrested to assist with investigations.
“The body of the deceased has been sent to the Tema General Hospital for preservation and autopsy while the injured are receiving medical attention at the same hospital after the Tema Regional Police Crime Scene Management team had examined the scene for evidential materials that will aid in the investigation.
"Two suspects have since been detained at the Devtraco Police Station and are assisting the investigation,” the police said.
The chieftaincy dispute has been a protracted one as Prampram has been without a paramount chief.
Meanwhile, kingmakers of the Prampram Traditional Area are considering rescheduling the coronation for a new chief.
They had planned the ceremony for October 31, but have said that the enstoolment of a new chief for Prampram will take effect on November 30.
